Reasons You Might Not Qualify for Dental Implants
There are a number of different qualifications you must meet for dental implants. The primary qualification is a sufficient amount of bone tissue to support the implants. Unfortunately, many patients who have been missing teeth for a while have lost quite a bit of bone density. In order to improve bone density and qualify for dental implants, a patient would have to have a bone graft.
A bone graft, however, not only adds an additional surgery (and recovery time) to the dental implant process, but it also increases the costs as well. Dental implants are not a cheap restorative solution. Needing an additional surgery could make the procedure unaffordable for some patients. For others, they simply are not healthy enough to undergo multiple surgeries.
All-on-4® Candidates
All-on-4® implants are ideal for patients missing all of their teeth in their upper or lower jaw, or both. The implants used with the All-on-4® method are slightly smaller than traditional implants. They are also inserted at an angle, so less bone density is needed for support.
To ensure you qualify for this implant method, our doctors will take x-rays of your jaw and assess your oral and overall health. If a lack of bone density and your budget were the only things keeping you from getting dental implants, it is likely that you will make a good candidate for All-on-4® implants.
